Donating a car in the Mobile Metro area is easy with Cruise Forward. We really do come to you — from Midtown and Spring Hill to West Mobile, Tillman’s Corner, Saraland, Daphne, and beyond. Your pickup is genuinely free: $0 to you, no surprise charges later. We arrange a local flatbed or hook-and-chain tow, cover the cost from the charity’s sale proceeds, and you receive a tax receipt after your vehicle is sold to benefit Heritage for the Blind.
Here’s how it works in Mobile: you call or submit our online form, we confirm your address and preferred pickup window, and then we assign a nearby towing partner. Whether your car runs or not, you can leave the keys and signed Alabama title in an agreed spot (often the glove box or with building security). The driver will load your vehicle and handle the paperwork pickup. In most Mobile-area locations, a tow truck can arrive within a few business days, with rural addresses sometimes taking a bit longer depending on routing.
How to schedule your free local pickup
1. Start your Mobile-area donation request
Call Cruise Forward or submit our online form with your Mobile address, vehicle details, and how to reach you. Whether you’re in Downtown, Midtown, West Mobile, or across the Bay in Daphne or Fairhope, we’ll confirm that your location is within our free pickup zone and answer any timing questions right away.
2. Choose a pickup day and time window
Our team will work with you to select a pickup window that fits your schedule, typically within a few business days for most Mobile Metro neighborhoods. We’ll note any details like apartment complexes, parking decks, or tricky streets in places like Dauphin Island Parkway or Old Dauphin Way to help the tow driver plan access.
3. Prepare your title, keys, and access
Before pickup, locate your Alabama vehicle title and keys. We’ll explain where to sign the title as the seller and how to leave it for the driver if you won’t be home. Make sure the car is accessible for a flatbed — for example, not blocked in your driveway or behind a locked gate without a code or contact number.
4. Park the vehicle for easy towing
On pickup day, park your car, truck, or SUV in a spot where a tow truck can safely reach it — curbside, in a driveway, or an accessible lot. This is especially important in tighter areas like Oakleigh, Downtown, or historic neighborhoods with narrow streets. For rural addresses outside Mobile, choose the most open, visible spot you reasonably can.
5. Leave the title and keys as arranged
Place the signed Alabama title and keys in the agreed-upon location: inside the vehicle, with a front desk, or handed directly to the driver if you’re home. The towing partner will verify the paperwork, load your vehicle, and provide a pickup receipt so you have immediate proof of your donation for your records.
6. Receive your tax receipt by mail
After your vehicle is sold, you’ll receive a tax receipt from Cruise Forward documenting the sale value. In many cases this is at least $500; for donations valued over $500, you’ll also receive IRS Form 1098-C. You can share this with your tax professional to claim any eligible charitable deduction.
Local pickup gotchas
Tight Mobile streets and historic neighborhoods
Tip: Areas like Downtown, Oakleigh, and Old Dauphin Way can have narrow, crowded streets. Let us know in advance if street parking is tight or if there are low-hanging branches or tight turns so we can choose the right truck and pickup angle for your block.
Gated communities, apartments, and HOA rules
Tip: In condos and apartments around West Mobile, Tillman’s Corner, or Daphne, tow trucks may need gate codes, building access, or HOA approval. Share any codes, entry instructions, or parking rules when scheduling so your driver doesn’t get turned away or delayed at the gate.
Very rural or outlying Alabama addresses
Tip: If you’re outside the core Mobile Metro, such as in more rural parts of Mobile or Baldwin County, we can still arrange free pickup, but routes may be grouped. Expect a slightly longer wait and try to choose a highly visible, easily reached spot along a main road if your driveway is hard to access.
Blocked-in or inoperable vehicles
Tip: We accept vehicles that don’t run, but the tow driver must be able to reach and load them. Before pickup, clear any obstacles, move other cars, and let us know if the vehicle has missing wheels or is stuck so we can plan equipment and timing correctly.
If at-home pickup is tricky
If at-home pickup is tricky for your situation, you still have options in the Mobile area. Some donors arrange to meet the tow truck at a friend’s driveway, a workplace lot, or a more accessible street near places like the University of South Alabama, Providence Hospital, or Dauphin Street. In some cases, we can coordinate with a local shop if your car is already at a mechanic or storage yard. Tell us what you’re dealing with — tight HOA rules, downtown parking, or a vehicle stranded across the Bay — and we’ll do our best to find a local solution that keeps your donation completely free.
Mobile pickup coverage
Cruise Forward serves the full Mobile Metro, including Midtown, Spring Hill, West Mobile, Tillman’s Corner, Chickasaw, Prichard, Saraland, and Spanish Fort, plus many nearby Alabama communities. Most in-town pickups happen within a few business days; more rural areas of Mobile, Baldwin, and surrounding counties may take a bit longer while we route flatbeds efficiently. For Alabama title handling, we’ll guide you on signing your AL title correctly and remind you to remove your license plates and personal items before pickup. You can then return or transfer the plates per Alabama Motor Vehicle Division guidance. Our team makes the local details simple so your donation process stays smooth.
